Creating a platform for growth post MBO

For over 80 years Fairhurst has been supporting businesses across the North West with audit, accountancy, tax, corporate finance and financial planning services.

  • Following a management buyout led by two Partners, the firm entered a pivotal new phase in its evolution.

With over 80 years of history and a strong reputation already established, the leadership team had ambitious plans to accelerate growth and expand the firm’s capabilities.

However, while the business had evolved significantly, the way it presented itself no longer reflected the breadth of its expertise or the scale of its ambition.

To support the next stage of growth, the firm needed a stronger identity, one that honoured its heritage while creating a platform for future expansion.

  • We began with a strategic analysis of the market to identify opportunities for differentiation and growth.

Through this process, we uncovered opportunities to reposition the firm in a way that better reflected its evolving capability and future aspirations.

We introduced a clearer structure and categorisation for its audiences, enabling a more focused and relevant approach to engagement.

Building on this foundation, we developed a new overarching value proposition for the firm alongside tailored propositions for each audience group. The focus of each was to shift the narrative away from services to the needs of the audience reflecting the firms understanding of their business.

To create consistency and alignment across the organisation, we also established a comprehensive messaging hierarchy, including vision, mission, values, behaviours, and a core messaging framework.

Finally, we created a new visual identity that reflected the leadership team’s ambition and provided the flexibility to engage diverse audiences while maintaining a cohesive and recognisable presence.

  • The new strategic platform gave the leadership team greater clarity and confidence as they entered the next phase of growth.

The firm now has a stronger, more unified identity that better communicates the full extent of its expertise and supports more effective engagement across audience groups.

By aligning heritage with ambition, the business is now better positioned to strengthen its market presence, support growth initiatives, and build long-term value as it continues to evolve.
